Texas Media Tour

April 6-7th, 2015

After filming a season of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, I typically go on a media tour to promote the new websiodes found on www.WildKingdom.com.  I always enjoy visiting radio and news stations around the U.S but bringing animals onto the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show is one of my favorites. The cast, Jenna, Big Al, Kellie and J-Si are always very friendly, inquisitive and humorous. I never know what Big Al is going to say, most of the time, it leaves me speechless because he is so darn clever. Jenna lights is a HUGE animal lover who can barely handle herself when she sees a cute animal so a lot of listeners can really relate to her. J-Si and Kellie always ask such great questions, add interesting insight and never fail to say what everyone else is thinking about. It makes for a great show!

This was my 3rd time on the show and this time, I went above and beyond by partnering with the Dallas Zoo to bring a two-toed sloth. I have never brought a sloth into a studio before and I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. Sloths are known for being slow and gentle, but surprisingly enough, sloths can be quick, can be “bitey”and are not afraid to take a swipe at your face with their 3-4 inch long claws.  When I first asked my friends at the Dallas Zoo if we could make this unique experience happen for the cast and listeners, they were open to brainstorming ways to come up with a safe option for the sloth, crew and the expensive gear. HaHa!  If the sloth could reach the camera gear, it would become a very expensive jungle gym!  Thankfully the zoo staff created a sturdy stand and it was on!

The cast was blown away by the sloth’s teeth, claws and strange fur. What is your favorite sloth fact?
